Calling All First Responders & Veterans: Join a Groundbreaking Study on Critical Incident Stress, Sleep & Resiliency
All Data is confidential and no names are submitted to the University-or Agencies
Are you a first responder carrying a heavy stress load? Struggling with sleep or mood swings that come with the job? If you’ve ever felt like your nervous system is stuck in “always on” mode, Arizona State University (ASU), Tactical Resiliency USA (TRUSA) and Healing The Hero (Non-Profit) want to hear from you.
Dr. Maguire, primary investigator at ASU, is publishing a Critical Incident Stress Resiliency Study and a Military Stress Study aimed at transforming how we support our nation’s firefighters, paramedics, dispatchers, and law enforcement officers. This isn’t just about science—it’s about human performance, recovery, and longevity in service.
Why You Should Join
This study offers you a real chance to take back control over your mental clarity, sleep, and emotional regulation—all while contributing to research that could change how departments across the country support their people.
No names. No identifiers. Just results. All data is blind to the University. No personal identifying information will ever be transmitted—only anonymous demographic data.
Real-world intervention with real-world potential. This study isn’t just academic—it’s actionable. It could be the foundation for career-saving, life-changing protocols rolled out across first responder agencies nationwide.
What You’ll Experience
The study is looking for 30–50 first responders and Veterans who:
- Are exposed to chronic, high operational stress
- Experience poor or irregular sleep
- Navigate emotional highs and lows often
- Want to optimize performance and well-being
Here’s how it works:
- Baseline Assessment Stress index surveys (PCL5, GAD7, PHQ9, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) questionnaire)
- Initial brain scan using Evox qEEG from Evoke Neuroscience
- Trauma Resiliency Protocol – Peer Rescue (TRP-PR)
- 3–5 sessions led by a trained peer mentor
- TRP-PR sessions take place in person or over a HIPAA-compliant platform like Zoom
- Follow-Up Evaluation
- Repeat stress scores Final qEEG brain scan
- Comparison to assess measurable improvement in sleep, emotional regulation, and cognitive resiliency, etc.
The Goal: Evidence-Based Healing That Works for You
This study is not therapy—it’s resiliency training delivered peer-to-peer, just like you’d expect in the field. Results could help prove to administrators and leaders across the country that simple, affordable interventions can change lives—and careers—for the better.
You’ll walk away with insights into your brain’s performance, strategies to enhance your mental resilience, and the satisfaction of helping build a new foundation of evidence-based support for first responders.
“We are not just helping people survive the job, we ARE helping them recover and stay in the fight!” — Dan Jarvis, TRUSA CEO and Healing The Hero Founder.

The study is two pronged, we are looking for first responders for one study group, between 30 and 50. We are looking for veterans for the second group, between 30 and 50, with combat veterans and those operating in high operation stress loads.
These studies will be published independently. When the two studies publish showing the results are replicated, we will have an evidence based practice, that is peer administered. The intentions are to bring light into a dark place, the suicidality of veterans and first responders and let the system examine and digest a better way to heal. Significant research will be required after these two initial studies, but other studies are in the works with corrections officers and survivors of Human Trafficking. We are in discussions with two additional Universities.
